John Denver became a star through the folk-inspired songs he wrote, most of them located in Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, he was in love with Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's popular songs about his new home state drew many tourists to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared that John Denver was by far one of the top artists who represented Colorado. Denver was the very one of the first Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. He has become the personification of Colorado to the people all over. When I travel, I always encounter someone on the other part of the globe, one of New Zealand and you say 'I'm originally from Colorado and the very first thing that comes they say is Oh John Denver! Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief time with folk bands, was Denver's debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff had written the song in the spirit of Johnny Cash, but Denver discovered an early version and knew it was going to be one of the Top 10 hits. The track was released just several weeks after that Washington D.C. performance.
